New Member Training

The assocation provides training for individuals who are new to the organization. This training is suitable for any umpire whether or not they have any prior experience. There is NO FEE charged for attending the training clincis.

The Winter Clinic is conducted in January and early February as we prepare for the high school season. The training consists of consists of three (3) Saturdays and one weekday evening.  In addition, there are two weekends of scrimmages (also Saturdays) where the new members will work under the guidance of some our senior umpires (weather permitting).

The Spring Clinic is a shortened version of the Winter Clinic and is a one-day class to prepare new members who are joining the organization for our summer season. New members who attend the Spring Clinic are required to attend the Winter Clinic unless excused by the Training Coordinator.

In addition to these clinics, the association generally puts on training during the year at our regular meetings. These are generally short presenations to address specific issues, such as rules changes or specific rules or situations.

This training does not "make" you an umpire. It is designed to provide a solid basis upon which you can begin to develop the skills required to be an umpire. The course schedule and topics can be seen at the links below.
