C.O.P.E. Training
(Coaches and Officials Positive Expectations)
NOTE: All officials are required by UIL to complete the C.O.P.E. training once each school year in order to be eligible for assignment to regular season and post-season games.
COPE training can be taken on-line through the UIL website (click on the link below to go to the COPE program)
In order to take the COPE training on-line, you will need to follow these procedures:
- Go to the COPE website (click on the link below)
- NOTE: Don't worry about all the stuff that says this is for coaches, administrators, etc. You will be allowed to select your "job" as a sports official later in the process
- If you already have an Electronic Identification for the University of Texas (UT EID), select LOGIN
- If you do NOT have a UT EID, then select STEP 1 and follow the instructions
- When asked to define your "job", select the last option, then select OFFICIAL and your SPORT
- If you work multiple sports, you will need to "update" your profile by choosing "select additional jobs" and adding each sport you work
- Once you have your UT EID, you can logon to the COPE Training program.
- NOTE: If you have problems getting to the COPE program, you may need to adjust your browser setting to allow popup windows for the utexas.edu site
- If you have problems logging on, click on the HELP link at the bottom of the screen of the UIL Gateway page (not the logon page.
- NOTE: Passwords are case-sensitive. If you entered your password with one or more uppercase letters, they are REQUIRED in order to logon
- Once you get to the COPE training, you can watch the video and then take answer the questions...OR...you can go straight to the questions.
- There are four questions for each section of COPE, and you must answer at least 3 out 4 correct for each section
